  I remember one of my teen friends in the borg being dissuaded from entering nursing training in case she was asked to assist at an abortion.
  
  She was absolutely gutted as she had her heart set on this career - pioneering sure didn't fill the gap....

  i have visited several churches with family and friends and this is something that i cannot get used to.

  i do not know if this is basically done in black churches or not ( i am aa) but it makes me a little uncomfortable.

  i will say that i have had feelings in these churches that i have never felt in the kh.

  I'm with Prop on this one. I can't help feeling that a lot of this is group hysteria. If you go to a club where fast tempo techno is playing you will see lots of people in a trance like state. That is why a lot of people like this kind of music - it induces a trance like state.
  
  This could be a similar effect to stuff like the Toronto Blessing - if you work yourself up enough you could quite easily reproduce this.
  
  No disrespect to those who incorporate this as part of their religious beliefs - as has been said a lot more research is needed.

  When you say that two medical reps can be appointed - would they have more say than the immediate family?.
  
  
  I say this as I think my mum's blood card has one of the elders signatures on it. If worst case scenario - surely the hospital authorities couldn't allow decisions to be made in this way? Surely the families wishes would be the only ones considered?

  you know those people who pepper their conversations with phrases that were fashionable once but now - it's just plain annoying!.

  probably the phrases travel the world.

  "at the end of the day".

  i love it and the only thing this browser doesn't see on this forum when posting is using the smilies when creating or replying a topic, only msie can see it.

  I just swapped over from IE to Mozilla also - I tried Netscape but didn't like it.
  
  I am really impressed by Mozilla, so simple yet loads of features to amuse me!

  i used to be a big fan of british tv here in the states.

  where, besides, pbs, can i see some of the great programs i used to watch?

  i'm in texas around dallas, so if anyone knows what channel they might be on, please respond.

  Update: The meeting with my mom....

  just an update for those of you who read about my decision to send my mother a letter.. my mom received my letter yesterday and then today she met me for lunch.

  all through lunch she didn't mention anything that would be considered witnessing.

  because some people abused a "christian get-together" that had a lot of people, we could only get together in smaller groups.

  Yup - the ' no trousers ' rule always got on my nerves especially in Winter, as Glitter says.

  Not being allowed to say ' for god's sake' , not being allowed to be left alone with a member of the opposite sex, sisters not being allowed to take any responsibility.

  about 10 minutes ago i had a visitor!

  she was a sister that we used to pal around with, we had several dinners together and she and her husband and my husband played cards together.
